Want to share your talents, but don't know where to start?

We are looking for volunteers to share as little or as much time to help make the best school year for our students. We have many Committees that anyone is welcome to volunteer their time and talents.

After School Activities: plan and assist in after school programs such as Snapology, Coach Dave, Lego Club etc

Battle of the Books: assists the librarian in organizing this literacy event where students and parents create small teams and answer quiz questions on assigned books

Book Fair: Spend a few hours during the day or after school in the library helping children to find and select books and serving as a cashier. Training provided! We typically have 2-3 book fairs throughout the school year.

Classroom Parties: Highcliff hosts parties for all grades. We need 3-4 volunteers per classroom to organize games, snacks, and crafts. (Halloween, Holiday, Valentine’s Day)

Family Olympics: An annual evening event held at Ross Elementary gymnasium. Students go through an "obstacle" course with a parent or guardian. They "compete" within their grade level, with an award ceremony for each grade. Volunteers brainstorm, create, and supervise the families as they complete the course. Help is also needed with registration and awards. Bleachers are open for spectators to watch.

Field Day: A favorite year-end outside event during school hours when students participate in a variety of fun physical activities by grade. Volunteers choose the time and the specific activities where they can help.

Fundraising: Help is needed to prepare take home packets for our fundraising activities (EX: Walk-A-Thon, Sports Raffle, Betsy Ann Chocolates) that take place throughout the year. Assistance is typically needed for sorting and distributing orders.

Helping Hands: When teachers need additional assistance, they will place items in a "helping hands" box in the office. Anyone who has some free time during the day is welcome to stop by and see what needs done. Typical projects may include making copies or binders for classes.

Holiday Shop: Volunteers are needed to set-up, man table, restock merchandise, serve as a cashier, and help children wrap presents at the Holiday Shop, which is held in December at Christ Lutheran Church, across the street from the school. Students will be able to go to the holiday shop during their designated class time and purchase gifts for loved ones.

Incentives: Box Tops, Chick fil a receipts, Shop n Save SEEDs

Kids of Steel: A fantastic exercise and healthy program for families. Whether your child is a seasoned runner or just a beginner, he or she will complete a marathon over four months by logging 25.2 miles in a variety of exercises that are not limited to just running. Students can choose to run the last marathon mile at the Toyota Pittsburgh Kids Marathon that is held in May. Needs 2-3 coaches per group (K/1st), (2nd/3rd), (4th/5th).

Library Helpers: Volunteers are needed throughout the year to assist in the library.

Lunch Bunch: During lunchtime, volunteer to help out our kindergartners and first graders to open containers, clean up spills, and supervise our younger students. Assistance is typically needed between 12:00 – 1:00 pm.

Talent Show: An evening event for the entire family when our students showcase their various talents. Parents are needed to help with registration, stagehands, direct acts, etc.

Teacher Appreciation: Coordinates Teacher Appreciation Week and few teacher appreciation events through the year (fill the fridge and cookies)

Yearbook: Help photograph events, design yearbook layout, assist in yearbook ordering.

Walk-a-Thon: This is one of our biggest fundraising events. Volunteers are needed to help prepare student materials prior to the event, be onsite the day of the walk to help organize walkers, track the number of laps, restock water tables, take pictures, and cheer on participants.
