Want to share your talents but not sure where to start? Whether you have an hour here and there or prefer a single event, there’s a place for you. Many roles are flexible and family‑friendly.

Year‑Round & On‑Call Opportunities


After‑School Activities

Plan and assist with enrichment programs (e.g., Children’s Museum workshops, Coach Dave, One Sweet Cookie, Drama Club, Chess Club, Coding for Kids). Time: occasional afternoons/evenings; flexible.

 

Book Fair

Help students find great reads and serve as a cashier in the library. Training provided. Time: day and after‑school shifts during 2–3 fairs/year.

 

Helping Hands (On‑Call)

Drop in when you have time to help with teacher projects (copying, laminating, assembling binders, etc.). Look for the Helping Hands box in the office. Time: during school hours; as available.

 

Incentives Programs

Coordinate Box Tops, Chick‑fil‑A receipts, and Shop ’n Save SEEDs submissions. Track totals and help promote participation. Time: light, flexible year‑round.

 

Library Helpers

Support the library with shelving, check‑in/out, and student assistance. Training provided. Time: during school hours; flexible shifts.

 

Lunch Bunch (K–2)

Help our younger students open containers, clean up spills, and enjoy lunch. Time: typically 11:00a.m. –1:00 p.m.; choose the days that work for you.

 

Teacher Appreciation

Plan and host appreciation moments throughout the year (Teacher Appreciation Week, “fill the fridge,” coffee trucks, etc.). Time: flexible; light planning.

 

Yearbook

Photograph events, help design the layout, and assist with ordering. No experience needed—guidance provided. Time: flexible through the year; a bit busier in spring.

 

Events and Seasonal Opportunities 

 

Classroom Parties

Coordinate games, snacks, and crafts for grade‑level celebrations (Halloween, Winter, Valentine’s Day). Typically 3–4 volunteers/classroom. Time: during school hours.

 

Family Fun Nights

Help plan and host occasional evening events that bring our community together (e.g., book bingo, Sweetheart Dance, etc). Time: evening; event‑based.

 

Family Olympics

Help create and supervise a parent/guardian‑and‑student obstacle course at Ross Elementary gym. Support registration, stations, and awards. Bleachers open for spectators. Time: one evening; event‑based.

 

Field Day

A favorite end‑of‑year event! Choose a station and shift to cheer on students through outdoor activities. Time: during school day; late spring.

 

Fundraising

Prepare take‑home packets and assist with events like the Walkathon, Zroni, Sports Raffle, and Betsy Ann Chocolates. Help with sorting and distributing orders. Time: event‑based; flexible.

 

Talent Show

Support registration, rehearsals, and show night (stage crew, backstage helpers, directing acts). Time: evening; event‑based.

 

Walkathon (major fundraiser)

Lend a hand before and during the big day—prep student materials, organize walkers, track laps, restock water tables, take photos, and cheer! Time: prep + day‑of shifts.

 

How Much Time Do I Need?
